ISA-SP88 Batch Control :

The ISA88 committee has published a series of standards on batch control in industrial automation systems.

To provide guidelines for the design and specifications of batch control systems. This will draw from (and supplement) existing standards and recommended practices of ISA and other organizations. Subjects that will be considered for inclusion by this committee are:

1. To define terminology specific to batch control systems that will encourage understanding between manufacturers and users.

2. To provide a standard data structure batch control language to simplify the programming, configuration tasks, and communication between the various components of the system.

3. To provide a standard data structure for batch systems that will simplify the task of data communications within the system architecture.

4. To determine a standard batch control architecture that defines both the physical model and the functional model. The physical model is the hierarchical structure that relates control equipment and data communications needed for the physical areas involved in batch control. The functional model shows the relationships between the five types of control recipe management, scheduling, sequential control, regulatory control, and safety interlock systems.

Productys Solutions use a free-format relationnal information system, so it's possible to create or fill a compliant SP88 database when necessary.

ISA-SP95 Enterprise-Control System Integration :

The ISA95 committee has developed and is continuing to work on a multipart series of standards that defines the interfaces between enterprise activities and control activities.

  • Multi-part effort
  • Define in detail an abstract model of the enterprise, including manufacturing control functions and business functions, and its information exchange.
  • Establish common terminology for the description and understanding of enterprise, including manufacturing control functions and business process functions, and its information exchange.
  • Define electronic information exchange between the manufacturing control functions and other enterprise functions including data models and exchange definitions.

To create a standard that will define the interface between control functions and other enterprise functions based upon the Purdue Reference Model for CIM (hierarchical form) as published by ISA. The interface initially considered is the interface between levels 3 and 4 of that model. Additional interfaces will be considered, as appropriate. The goal is to reduce the risk, cost, and errors associated with implementing these interfaces. The standard must define information exchange that is robust, safe, and cost effective. The exchange mechanism must preserve the integrity of each system's information and span of control.

Productys Solutions are based on level 3, and can be inclued in M.E.S. scope, without being obliged to implement all M.E.S. resolutions.

WBF - The Organization for Production Technology, is dedicated to supporting the process automation and operations needs of the technical and management professions in process manufacturing. WBF facilitates the interchange and development of information and knowledge in order to help its members succeed and to exert a positive influence on industry.

The SP88 committee, from its inception has been led by WBF members. Most participants are also WBF members. The ISA-88 committee is currently in the final stages of updating ISA-88 Part 1. This will be the first update to the standard since its publication in 1995.

Some members of the WBF Leadership Team, participated in the ISA95 meeting in Indianapolis June 16-18, 2009. This meeting focused on the maintenance release of ISA-95 Part 1 and Part 2 as well as on the working draft of ISA95 Part 4, Objects and attributes for manufacturing operations management integration. The committee has recently issued committee ballots for the updated versions of Part 1 and 2 of the standard and is now developing Part 4.

Productys follows WBF conclusions and look at all possible concrete implementations of their results.

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government.. Title 21 of the CFR is reserved for rules of the Food and Drug Administration. Each title (or volume) of the CFR is revised once each calendar year. A revised Title 21 is issued on approximately April 1st of each year and is usually available here several months later.

CFR 21 was downloaded from the files of the Government Printing Office (GPO) and contains the most recent revision. The CFR at GPO, both current and historical, can also be searched directly at: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/cfr/index.html1.

OMAC—Organization for Machine Automation and Control—is the global organization for automation and manufacturing professionals that is dedicated to supporting the machine automation and operational needs of manufacturing.

OMAC has about 500 members from end-user companies, OEM's, and technology providers and integrator companies. These members include companies with vested interest in developing and implementing open control technologies for manufacturing applications.

They currently operate three two Work ing G groups: Packaging Machinery , Manufacturing Infrastructure, and Machine Tool. These groups lead the way in producing consensus guidelines to improve flexibility, improve capability, and reduce system integration costs. We also seek to improve the automation industry’s capabilities by defining the educational and training needs of our community.

Productys is actually working to include process traceability, simulation and planification in Productys Explorer manufacturing solutions in dedicated conveying Transitys Solutions. OMAC provides operationnal basis for quick performance.
